Language
The official language of Thailand is theThai language , a Kradai language closely related to Lao, Shan in Burma, and numerous smaller languages spoken in an arc from Hainan and Yumnan south to the Malaysian border. It is the principal language of education and government and spoken throughout the country. The standard is based on the dialect of the central Thai people, and it is written in the Thai alphabet, an abugida script that evolved from the Khmer script. Several other dialects exist, and coincide with the regional designations. Southern thai is spoken in the southern provinces, and Northern Thai is spoken in the provinces that were formally part of the independent kingdom of Lannathai.

Drummer

In case you thought Barker’s “leg up” approach to footwork was some juvenile urge to play as hard as he can, you’re only partially right. “For the most part I’m trying to make sure my bass drum, my snare drum, and every fill I do is the same volume, you know? I would always hate it when I’d go see drummers play and you get to their fill and you couldn’t hear it no more [laughs]. So I always try to make sure everything cuts.

Car

New models from McLaren, Bentley and Noble prove that the British car industry can compete with the best in the world when it comes to engineering expertise. We bring you the lowdown on all three before looking back at a British sportscar past-master in the shape of the Lotus Elan.
We’ve also gone a bit Nürburgring crazy this month, visiting the legendary circuit in a Jaguar, Lotus and Vauxhall, learning how Caparo is aiming to break the all-time lap record and reminiscing about the achievements of three of the greatest drivers ever to race on the Nordschleife.
Elsewhere, Nissan’s new 370Z goes through our Road Test and we tell you how to find a fine example of its predecessor, the 350Z in our in-depth Buying Guide.
All this, plus the usual mix of first drives, great features and bad jokes, only in the latest issue of Performance Car magazine, on sale now.
